Chris Rock Speaks Up About Oscar Smackdown
Chris Rock has finally yet briefly opened up on the slap he received from Will Smith during the 2022 Oscars.
Last Sunday, 27 March, Rock made a joke at Jada Pinkett Smith’s expense, which prompted her husband to walk on stage and deliver an open-handed smack, which has become the most popular talking point of the awards ceremony.
No charges were pressed against Smith – who has since apologised – while many celebrities and fans across social media have continuously commented on what transpired.
Meanwhile, Rock returned to the stage at the Wilbur Theatre in Boston, Massachusetts to perform two sold-out, back-to-back shows as part of his “Ego Death Tour” on Wednesday night, 30 March.
The 57-year-old comedian appeared to be over the Oscars controversy, but became teary-eyed when the audience gave him a standing ovation as he walked on stage both times.
“Still kind of processing what happened,” he said before his first performance, but later on mentioned, “Other than the weird thing, life is pretty good.”
No doubt Rock will eventually open up more about the incident in his typical acerbic sense of humour.
